Norwegian Fjords

Oceanography Research Vessel - February 2001

Håkon Mosby, the ship on which we traveled through the Norwegian Fjords.

In this research vessel we could measure the geophysical properties of the waters we were traveling through.

Here's a CTD, which serves to measure water characteristics like salinity, temperature, pressure, depth and density. We also collected water samples from various depths to analyze in the lab.

Working in shifts of 8 hours, there were plenty of opportunities to enjoy the long-lasting dawns and dusks of the higher latitudes.

A bit of work in the lab, a break to enjoy the scenery outside.

And what a beautiful scenery it was...
